| Abundant Life Temple under construction in 1986. |

| In 1977, Rev. EJ Lowery and his family accepted the invitation to become the pastor of a small body of people who were meeting in a borrowed building with a very limited cash flow in Kansas, Alabama. In the years to follow, the fellowship began to grow and Pastor Lowery and his council began to draft plans to build a new facility.
Construction began in the mid 80's and Abundant Life Temple came into existence facing a huge debt. The fellowship continued to grow in size and the 20 year building debt was paid off in record time. As of 2007, the Church, Family Life Center & Parsonage are valued at approx. 5 million dollars and has operated debt free ever since. This is truly a remarkable testimony of God's blessings for an Interdenominational Church with no money in the little town of Carbon Hill, Alabama.
In the early 90's, the Corridor "X" Interstate was under construction and was mapped to run through the sanctuary of the church. The church was still new to the community and its congregation did not want to sell and undergo another building project so they began to pray for a divine intervention. Pastor Lowery's son was selected to work for then Alabama Governor Jim Folsom campaign and the Governor was made aware of the situation. After careful study by the State Highway Department Dir. Ray Bass, alterations were made and the church still stands to this day at exit 52.
